Board hears positive reports on curriculum adoption, FFA placements and college/career fair

Acting JH/HS Principal Thomas Blumer reported that the recently adopted Amplify Science curriculum has increased hands-on engagement and strengthened the writing component in middle-school science classes. He said teachers have used the text to expose students to nonfiction narratives and that teacher-led breakout sessions during School Improvement Day provided targeted professional development.
Blumer and others also highlighted Sharp FFA results and student opportunities. The district sent several students to the national FFA convention where Chelsey Stotler placed 4th in Division 5 Food Science, Adam West placed 9th in Division 5 Social Systems, and Toby Williams placed 8th in Division 3 Food Products and Processing. The district held a College and Career Fair with forty vendors on Oct. 18, giving students conversations with at least twelve vendors each, per the presentation.
