The Stark County board approved updated athletic drug screening procedures and renewed intergovernmental agreements affecting athletics during its Oct. 21 meeting.
Nurse consultants Cheryl Daum and Kari Bush presented revised drug screening procedures coordinated through the Toulon health clinic; the minutes state, "The new procedures will be implemented beginning with the 2024-25 winter athletics." The board approved the procedures 6-0.
The board also renewed an IGA allowing Bradford junior-high students to compete in Stark County junior-high athletics and approved a separate IGA among Bradford, Bureau Valley and Stark County for high-school choice; both motions passed 6-0.
On facilities, Superintendent Elliott said the final punch-list items on the new track have been completed but he plans one more walkthrough before mailing the final Byrne & Jones payment. He also noted ongoing gym construction milestones and that CORE Construction payments are milestone draws for flooring and other work.
