Board recognizes cross-country state qualifiers and student leader praised for intervening in dispute

President Ann Orwig presented Pride and Excellence recognitions to the Stark County High School cross-country teams and to individual student Jason Knowles. Orwig highlighted the girls’ team’s Sectional 3rd-place finish and noted Evan Knobloch became the first boy in school history to qualify for the IHSA State Finals. Coach Bob Rennick thanked the board and administration for support: "I am proud of this year’s runners," he said.
Orwig also praised student Jason Knowles for intervening in a student dispute and setting a positive example of leadership. Superintendent Brett Elliott added that he was proud of Jason "for stepping up when he didn’t have to." The recognitions concluded the public portion of the meeting and most audience members left afterward.
