Board bargaining team reports progress; teachers to review proposed contract in March

Board member and education committee secretary Emily Leezer briefed the board on recent negotiations, saying the district and teachers used an interest-based bargaining strategy and both sides were "very transparent" with the same goals. Superintendent Brett Elliott said the district is awaiting final legal language from counsel before the union shares the proposed contract with teachers.
The union plans to present the proposed contract to teachers on March 12, hold a union vote on March 14, and the board will consider the contract for approval at its March 17 regular meeting.
