Superintendent Brett Elliott told the board Jan. 21 that the district has received federal authorization to move into Tier II of a solar bus grant and will meet with the solar provider and architect to plan a bus barn and solar installation in preparation for the district's first electric bus. Elliott said all funding for the bus and installation is covered by the federal grant and the work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
The superintendent presented the transportation update during the administrative reports portion of the meeting and linked the solar bus plan to broader facilities planning, including the recent gym project and upcoming bus lease solicitations for next fiscal year. The board later authorized the superintendent to solicit bids for FY26 bus leases for buses coming off lease, a separate procurement action.
