Stark County board approves $933,201.73 in October bills, accepts FY24 audit with no findings

The Stark County Community Unit School District 100 Board of Education approved October bills totaling $933,201.73 and accepted the district's FY24 financial audit during its Oct. 21 meeting.
Dane Richards moved to approve the October bills and Bruce West seconded; the motion passed 6-0. Superintendent Brett Elliott confirmed a check to Byrne & Jones is intended as the final track payment but said the district will not mail it until final punch-list items are reviewed and approved.
Cameron Ehnle, senior associate from Gorenz and Associates, presented the FY24 audit and reported no findings. According to the minutes, "the district ended with a profile score of 3.7 on a scale of 4.0" and "Mr. Ehnle complemented the district by adding that Stark County is his favorite audit due to the detailed numbers and great internal controls in place." The board voted 6-0 to accept the audit.
Elliott also briefed the board on energy savings tied to the elementary campus solar array, saying, "From April 2023 - April 2024, we have saved just over $15,000." He said locking in lower rates and completing planned energy projects, including the Solar Bus Barn/Electric Bus project and possible high-school solar expansion, could generate an additional $20,000–$25,000 in annual savings.
The audit presentation and bill approval were the main fiscal actions of the evening; the board took no additional financial actions beyond motions recorded in the minutes.
