The Finance Committee reviewed unaudited fiscal year 2026 results at its Aug. 4 meeting. The finance director reported that "the total expenses for the general fund were at 93.8%, which was, under budget by 2,900,000," and that revenues showed "a positive balance of 1,160,000," producing an estimated $3,100,000 in preliminary savings before final reconciliations and audit entries.
The director cautioned the figures remain unaudited and subject to adjustment. Fund-level detail included Fund 601, which the director said had an overage driven by audit fees but nonetheless showed stronger revenues than expenses, leaving a positive balance of $845,000. Committee members pressed staff on whether the underspend reflected conservative spending or budget errors and asked for follow-up data and reconciliation once the audits are complete.
