District leaders presented several personnel and financial items during the Jan. 9 meeting. The board accepted the resignation of Jasmine Wilhelm effective Jan. 7 and approved substitute contracts for three listed individuals to cover staffing through the remainder of the school year. Members also approved a $500 donation from Sergeant (transcript spelling varies) Chevrolet to support the Waterloo theater program.
The treasurer reported that December produced a loss of about $450,000 for the general and emergency funds and that all funds show a year-to-date deficit of approximately $577,000; the treasurer noted that bond payments contributed to the timing of the negative number and flagged several one-time expenses including a $25,000 fuel-management system upgrade and a $23,000 fence project the foundation will reimburse. "December for general and emergency fund, we had a loss of about 450,000," the treasurer reported.
