Armory plastics project on hold; recycling education planned for seniors and school composting continues

Karla Smith-Kasten told the Green Team the Armory plastics project is currently on hold while a new Seeds director is settling into the role. She said collaboration is planned for next summer if scheduling and staffing allow.
Smith-Kasten also said outreach continues: she will present the "5 R's of Recycling" at the Manistee County Senior Center on May 21 at 1 p.m., and school-based composting work with the Kaleva-Norman-Dickson (KND) School is ongoing to collect cafeteria food scraps for a garden and teach students about composting and circular-economy concepts.
Committee members expressed general encouragement for these outreach efforts; no formal actions or funding decisions were recorded at the May 6 meeting.
