Judge Kaino swears in Joshua Conklin as new Astoria councilor
Summary
Joshua Conklin took the oath of office on Dec. 15, 2025 before Judge Kaino and was formally introduced to the Astoria City Council. The ceremony immediately preceded regular council business and public reports.
Mayor Fitzpatrick opened the meeting and invited Judge Kaino to administer the oath to Joshua Conklin, who was sworn in effective Dec. 1, 2025. The formal language of the oath was spoken and Conklin completed the ceremony on the record.
Judge Kaino led the recitation and asked Conklin to repeat the oath. "I, Joshua Conklin, do solemnly swear that starting on 12/01/2025, I will support the constitution of The United States Of America and the state of Oregon," the court officer read as part of the oath. The council then proceeded to regular reports and agenda items.
