Stark County students earn national FFA honors; coach shares new training methods and board creates AD activity account

During the Aug. 19 meeting President Ann Orwig and Principal Megan McGann recognized several students for national FFA honors: Jacob McCauley was accepted to the FFA National Choir, and Cole Kinsella, Chelsey Stotler, Adam West and Toby Williams were acknowledged as National Finalists in Agriscience categories. Ms. Taylor Wilkinson and Ms. McGann noted the students began their projects months earlier and praised their performance in national competitions.
Coach Kane Mastin reported on a summer coaches clinic in Italy, saying the methods learned emphasize making student-athletes “their own problem solvers” and that the terminology is more for coaches’ practice planning than for direct student instruction. The board also approved creation of an “Athletic Director” activity account to track donations and fundraising for athletics; President Orwig confirmed that account activity will be included in monthly JH/HS activity fund reports.
