Council approves liquor license transfer for Taste of India

The St. Louis Park City Council voted to approve the transfer of an on‑sale 3.2 malt liquor license and an on‑sale wine liquor license to Taste of India Minnesota Inc., for the restaurant at 5617 Wayzata Boulevard.
Deputy City Clerk Amanda Scott Laerdal told the council the application lists Diljit Singh (also cited as DJ Khosa) as the prospective sole owner and designated store manager, and shows a seating capacity of 110 and roughly 4,250 square feet of indoor space. "The police department has run a full background investigation, and nothing was discovered that would warrant denial of the license," Amanda Laerdal said during the presentation.
Mayor Mohammed opened the required public hearing; no members of the public spoke. Council member (mover) made a motion to approve the licenses and Mayor Mohammed seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote with all members saying "aye." The clerk had advised that zoning and building requirements were met and the applicant projected a closing date of sale of 08/07/2026.
The council record shows the matter was handled as a single ordinance‑style licensing action; no conditions or amendments were recorded. The license transfer will allow the new owner to operate a full‑service Indian restaurant at the site under the new corporate name.
