Public works director John updated the council on recent operations: the department laid conduit that saved the city about $37,000 on a sewer project, repaired water leaks, replaced an air vent at the hydro plant, cleared a beaver dam, swept streets, patched settling trenches and staged rock for winter leak repairs. The police chief presented the department’s November report: 147 calls for service, one city citation, 22 infractions, 12 misdemeanors, five felonies, and 99 traffic stops. The department experienced a resignation and will be hiring for multiple positions; officer testing and training were ongoing and at least one new officer had returned from the academy.
Council thanked staff for the reports and asked a few clarifying questions about timelines and grant opportunities referenced in the public works update.
