Preston council approves consent items, cancels Dec. 23 meeting

The Preston City Council unanimously approved its consent calendar, which included minutes from Nov. 25, payment of bills through today and the treasurer’s monthly report through Nov. 30, and two 50% permit/bond refunds for Cody Rouse and Steven Spillat.
Mayor (presiding) called for the motion to approve the consent items as read; a council member moved the consent calendar and another council member seconded. After a voice vote, council members answered “aye” and the consent calendar passed.
Council also considered scheduling of its December meeting and chose to cancel the session set for Dec. 23, 2024 because of the holiday. A council member moved to cancel the meeting; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote.
These routine approvals clear the way for staff to continue standard business. The council noted that item 5 — a county fair building proposal — was removed from the agenda and will be discussed at a later date.
