Village announces Level 2 water restrictions after Peralta well underperformance

Village staff told the Firewise Committee the Peralta well is not producing as expected because of cracked bedrock and a static level roughly 150 feet lower than anticipated, and the village is moving to "blue flag level 2" water restrictions to conserve supply. Lindsay, speaking for village management, said the well "is now not able to be used as a primary, and the village is explore is gonna look to put an exploratory well and likely end up with a new well to supplement what we're not gonna get out of Peralta."
Lindsay also described immediate outreach plans: notices, a flyer and targeted messages for short-term rental operators to encourage conservation measures like not filling hot tubs and minimizing discretionary watering. "So, we're going under the blue flag level 2 water restrictions as of today," Lindsay said, and staff emphasized they were acting to avoid escalating to Level 3 restrictions.
