Steger SD 194 reports 37 new teachers, PBIS reboot and preschool enrollment

Director of Student Services Jennifer Hering said the district has nearly filled staffing needs with one interview scheduled and reported the preschool program serves 75 students with four screenings planned during the school year. Principals reported a successful set of Open Houses and a PBIS reboot: Assistant Principal Mandy Helsel led PBIS changes and the district introduced the Dojo system to reinforce positive behavior. The minutes record one student describing the Open House as "awesome."
The superintendent also credited the food-service team for launching a new point-of-sale system and singled out Rachael by first name for her role in the seamless transition. Several principals described staff morale-boosting activities on opening day, including a parade at Steger Intermediate Center and staff treats delivered by the "Woot Woot Wagon."
