Steger SD 194 reports 1,249 students enrolled as district prepares for new year

Superintendent Dr. Anthony McConnell told the Board of Education that registration work is ongoing and thanked staff who helped with the process. "As of today, we have 1249 enrolled students, with approximately 250 students yet to register," he said, giving the board the district's current head count as schools prepare to start the year.
McConnell said the district is implementing a new absentee-management platform, Frontline, to make attendance records and substitute placement easier for staff. He also said ParentSquare messages would be sent to staff and families in the coming days and that a preview of a redesigned district website will be shared at the August meeting. The superintendent noted the district currently has ten agency-filled positions, a decrease from the prior year, and said filling remaining vacancies remains a priority.
