District to host distracted‑driving simulators; pursues teletherapy pilot and statewide youth survey

Junior/senior high principal Tyler described several student‑focused initiatives coming this fall. On Wednesday the 18th the district will host the 'International Save of Lives' program, which pairs a 30‑minute informational video in English classes with driving simulators and a pre‑participation pledge for students, expanded to include 9th graders who are beginning to drive.
Tyler said the district submitted a bid to participate in a pilot teletherapy program with Hazel Health, which would provide teletherapy resources to students and families at no cost to the district. "It would be no cost," Tyler said, cautioning that participation in the pilot is not guaranteed. The principal also outlined plans to administer the Ohio Healthy Youth Environment Survey (OH YES) to collect anonymous local data on behaviors and risk factors such as substance use, injuries and mental health; parents will receive information and may opt students out.
The combination of in‑school prevention programming, additional mental‑health access through teletherapy, and a systematic student survey is intended to give the district both immediate education tools and data to plan targeted supports if specific needs emerge.
