Superintendent June told the board the district conducted a communication survey with 176 respondents to assess how families want to receive information. "We had a 176 people who responded, to the survey of parents and guardians and residents of the district," June said, summarizing results that favored weekly updates and expanded text messaging.
To improve outreach the district has rolled out 'Waterloo Wednesdays,' a weekly video update that highlights positive school news and provides a place for staff and community members to submit content. June also noted the district consolidated social accounts into a single district Facebook presence and operates two YouTube channels — one for board meetings and one for Waterloo Wednesdays — to make video updates easier to find and subscribe to.
The superintendent said expanding text alerts makes communication more efficient than phone calls for time‑sensitive items and encouraged staff to submit content for Waterloo Wednesdays. The board thanked the communications team and acknowledged that the changes aim to improve parent engagement and transparency.
