The Marbletown Town Board approved an emergency services agreement with Ulster County that will allow construction of a county-operated cell tower intended to improve radio and cellular coverage for emergency responders. Chair (S1) told the board the county will operate the tower for emergency services and that Verizon has already signed an agreement to occupy carrier space.
Board members discussed construction logistics and revenue-sharing. The chair said the county agreed to a larger slice of cell-tower revenue and that town receipts will be split 50/50 with Rosendale for revenue from the Rondout Municipal Center lease; the chair estimated the town’s share could be roughly $30,000 annually. The board agreed to use part of the funds to create a capital reserve for municipal-center needs and approved the agreement by voice vote.
