Teton County approves University of Wyoming research agreement; workshop broadened beyond Grand Targhee EIS

The Teton County Board of Commissioners on May 26 approved a research agreement with the University of Wyoming that funds planning and facilitation of a joint workshop related to the Grand Targhee Resort Expansion Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Jodie Pond, Commissioners Administrator, presented the proposed Scope of Work and Budget and answered board questions.
During initial consideration the board voted to continue the item for later in the meeting; Jay Pence, Caribou-Targhee National Forest District Ranger for Teton Basin, provided public comment via Zoom. After reconvening, the board approved the agreement with the explicit understanding that the workshop will not focus solely on Grand Targhee Resort but will also consider other western-slope influences affecting the relationship between Teton County, Idaho, and Teton County, Wyoming. The minutes note that the contract may be amended as necessary to conform to that motion.
