Staff proposed that the commission publish a short, monthly historic-preservation column (a "Did you know?" or two-paragraph item) to share local history and preservation information with residents.
"We were talking about having little print article, maybe monthly in the local newspaper or with the community journal," Staff member said, noting potential outlets including the city manager's newsletter and the Park County Community Journal and that the commission has pass-through funds available to cover placement if necessary. Commissioners suggested potential topics such as the windows at the United Methodist Church (424 West Lewis), old school buildings such as Lincoln School and the Shane Center, and other neighborhood sites outside the downtown commercial historic district.
Staff asked commissioners to email ideas and offered to draft material and coordinate publication. Commissioners agreed to proceed and to share leads, local archival sources and contacts who hold historical scrapbooks and documentation.
