President Bruce Dowdy reported the village switched its health insurance plan before an October 31, 2024 deadline, resulting in an 18.5% increase in the premium. Dowdy said only two employees — Travis Peden and Billy Brunk — are currently enrolled in the village policy and that there was no time for a full board discussion before the switch.
Dowdy told the Committee the board agreed that Billy Brunk should not pay more than what Travis Peden pays; the minutes record that difference as 18 cents an hour. Trustees debated whether the village should continue offering health insurance to current and future employees but did not adopt a policy change during the Nov. 19 Committee at Large meeting; the item was tabled for further discussion at a later date. No formal motion or vote on a benefits-policy change was recorded in the minutes.
