At the July 16 special meeting, Vice-Chairman Josh Edge moved, seconded by Member John Wullich, that the Cleveland County Equalization Board defer to the Assessor's recommended valuation for the protested account while related litigation remains pending in District Court. The motion passed unanimously.
Director of Appraising Operations JD Reed had reviewed the Assessor's packet and cited aerial photos and sale data in support of the office's position; Reed stated the property is assessed at $433,358 and sold in May 2022 for $455,000. Assistant District Attorney Kristina Bell confirmed the taxpayer received proper notice and that the prior-year challenge has an active court appeal, informing the board's decision to defer rather than adopt a new valuation at this time.
The board recorded the votes for the motion to defer (Josh Edge, yes; John Wullich, yes) and later voted to adjourn at 10:19 a.m.
