Mayor John G. Compton told the Town Council that an ad hoc Town Safety Advisory Group met with Officer Melanie Romano of the Montgomery County Police 6th District to review a recent rash of vehicular vandalism and thefts in Washington Grove. The council directed that a written summary of that discussion be published in the April Town Bulletin and that a Zoom safety presentation with Q&A be scheduled with Officer Romano for town residents.
The meeting record notes that a “Grove Alert” summarizing the discussion was sent last week; the council did not vote on a policy action but approved the outreach steps noted above. The safety outreach is positioned as informational: the scheduled Zoom session will allow residents to ask questions of the county officer and the Town Safety Advisory Group prior to any further council action.
