Superintendent Heil highlights student-led survey work, community conversations and service-letter idea

Superintendent Dr. Kim Heil told the board the district has held multiple engagement events and is working to ensure that students, families and staff feel heard. She described an information fair that showcased district programs and said the district held a community conversation to gather input on strengths and areas to improve: "your voices are essential as they guide our continuous improvement of what we need to do in our district," Heil said.
Heil said student leaders are helping to co-develop a new student survey (grades K–5 will begin at Cedar Island with more than 60 students participating) and that district leaders are exploring a process for high-school students to earn a letter for community service. She closed with calendar reminders (no school for students Nov. 28) and announced two upcoming community conversation dates (Feb. 3 and May 12).
