Girl Scouts propose pollinator-garden renovation; borough to consider DPW help

Two Girl Scouts from NVOT, led by Lexi DePalma, presented a proposal to refurbish and secure the borough's pollinator garden on Central Avenue as their Gold project.
DePalma said the plan includes cleaning the garden and erecting a roughly 56-foot-long wire fence with posts set about 2 feet into the ground; she asked for assistance from the DPW for post-hole digging and occasional materials. She said the students plan fundraising activities including bake sales and Girl Scout-cookie sales to cover materials.
Council members asked for a sketch and discussed fence-height and ordinance requirements; the mayor and council liaison said they would consult DPW staff about timing and assistance, and the girls said they hoped to start work in June if fundraising succeeds.
