The board presented awards for a Halloween home‑decorating contest, with first place awarded to the Mata family at 3245 Butler. Steger Fire Chief Mike Long presented a Lifesaving Award to resident Johnnie Mitchell for guiding family members to safety during an August house fire and promoted Bailey Stevenson to lieutenant; Clerk Joseph Zagone Jr. administered the oath of office following the meeting.
Chief Long also announced a Pancake Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 1 from 7 a.m. to noon and said raffle-ticket details would be mailed to residents. Trustee Trotier reported on a Sept. 28 electronic recycling event and provided a collection summary: 30 pounds of unused prescriptions, 51 TVs, 11 printers, 7 laptops, 13 computers and 8 monitors. She also thanked volunteers from multiple communities and organizations for their assistance with the event and with a Sunflower Project that beautified public spaces.
