Aspen historic preservation staff say they will add planners this summer

Jillian, the commission’s historic‐preservation planner, reported hiring progress and said one planner is scheduled to start Aug. 11 and a second candidate will have second interviews this week. “We have made a hire of a planner who's starting August 11,” staff said, and indicated the new capacity will be shared across current planning, long‑range planning and historical preservation workloads.
Commissioners said filling those positions is a top priority and linked staffing capacity directly to the commission’s ability to undertake guideline updates and manage a backlog of major development reviews.
