Resident reports stray German shepherd; city says shelter over capacity and is seeking county help

Resident Delokia Ortega told the council a large German shepherd has taken residence in front of her home at 779 Brownie Road, that animal control responses have not resolved the situation, and that she fears going into her front yard.
Community Development Director Megan Snyder said staff had received service calls on the animal and that the shelter is currently over capacity — "our intended capacity is 45; we're currently at 54" — so the city has sought county assistance to address the dog. Snyder said because the dog is friendly the situation is complicated and staff will continue to pursue options with county partners and animal-control resources.
Council asked staff to follow up promptly because the resident described a risk to her personal safety and to report back on actions taken.
