Council weighs renaming County Corridor 17 to Main Street as ownership transfers

Planning staff said 45 addresses already use "Main Street" and listed publication and sign-installation steps the city must take. Councilors raised concerns about duplicates of street names elsewhere in the city and the need to coordinate with emergency services, the post office and digital-mapping providers. One councilor noted the value of the name for downtown character; another emphasized the need to notify property owners and work through postal and 911 implications.
Staff said no resolution would be adopted that night and that notices had not yet been mailed; the item will return to the council after staff develops the back-end process and resident notification plan.
