The WEDC board discussed a new Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) outreach plan at its April 20 meeting in Lyons. Executive Director Brian Pincelli introduced a draft survey included in the board packet and said the initiative "will start with current customers, and will be expanded to other Wayne County businesses," with staff following up over the next few months.
Treasurer Julie DiLella suggested preparing a marketing packet that would list resources and contact information for businesses. Board members urged outreach to municipal code enforcement officers and other local contacts to identify projects and new leads. Member Kenneth VanFleet noted that an impediment for businesses often includes "state mandates and changes in laws," and emphasized that awareness of available resources is key to business attraction.
The board also discussed data sources and site‑readiness information — staff pointed to broker‑generated REsimplifi data and a form for properties not commercially listed. Directors heard that the IDA is working with MRB on a Water and Wastewater Study to improve staff ability to answer specific site information requests and to clarify existing infrastructure capacity.
