The North Logan City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 5 to adopt the fiscal year 2027 municipal budget that includes a proposed combined property tax increase of approximately 7.89, which the city says would generate $139,615 in additional ad valorem revenue.
Scott Bennett, the city’s budget officer, told the council the tentative budget reflects a general fund property tax increase of approximately 7.5% and a 10% increase for the library fund. "North Logan City is considering a general fund property tax increase of approximately 7.5% and a 10% library fund property tax increase, which is projected to be a total 7.89% property tax increase and is expected to generate an additional $139,615 in additional ad valorem tax revenue," Bennett said in the statement read into the record. Bennett also gave the estimated residential impact: an average $659,000 home would see about a $28.99 annual increase.
The council moved on the measure after the required Truth in Taxation public hearing. Council member Buzzy made the motion to adopt the FY2027 budget, and the Chair said it was seconded by Emily; the motion passed on a unanimous voice vote. The Chair noted one council member participated remotely and was able to vote.
The action completes the council’s required Truth in Taxation process for this budget cycle. The council did not amend the proposal during the meeting; next steps for any implementation were not specified in the hearing record.
