Clermont County approved a temporary reduction in dog-adoption fees for animals adopted Aug. 5 through Sept. 5, 2026 to address an unusually high number of dogs in the county kennel.
Darlene, the kennel supervisor, told commissioners the kennel had taken in 11 dogs since Aug. 1 and was caring for about 47 dogs at the time of the meeting. "We're at well, we just got some strays in as I was sitting here. So we're at 47 right now," she said. Commissioners moved and approved the temporary fee reduction by roll call.
Staff confirmed there was still room inside and outside the facility but noted capacity was limited. The change is intended as a short-term measure to increase adoptions and relieve shelter demand.
