The Stark County Community Unit School District #100 board on March 17 unanimously approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Stark County Teacher Association that provides a flat $7,000 raise for all teachers in year one, followed by 4% increases in the second and third years.
Superintendent Brett Elliott presented the agreement, highlighting the district’s goal of recruiting and retaining teachers. "We are extremely proud of the bargaining process and the collaborative efforts of the association, district, and board of education that have ratified a powerful teacher contract that is up for board approval tonight," Elliott said. The contract also includes a 6% retirement incentive and expands the salary schedule from 20 steps to 21 steps in year three.
Board President Ann Orwig moved approval; Mr. Richards seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The board characterized the package as aimed at improving local competitiveness for hiring and addressing compression on the salary schedule. Implementation details and effective dates will follow in district communications and payroll processing.
