Commissioners agree to send revised $1M-per-year crisis-center MOU to Mental Health & Recovery Board

The Clermont County Board of Commissioners voted Aug. 5 to add to the agenda and direct staff to present a restructured MOU to the Mental Health and Recovery Board that would provide $1,000,000 per year in crisis-center funding.
Rick Spitzer, who brought the item to the board, said the agreement was revised from an earlier $1,300,000-per-year proposal to $1,000,000 annually and extended the board's option to continue payments through 2031. "What we've done is restructured that agreement to make it from 1,300,000 to 1 point just 1,000,000 even," Spitzer said. Commissioners asked that staff (Spitzer and Isaac Wiles) present the MOU to the Mental Health and Recovery Board for consideration.
The presenters said the funding would come from opioid-settlement money and be used for the county's crisis center. The motion to add the item to the agenda and to direct staff to present the MOU carried on a roll-call vote. No final disbursement decision was made by the commissioners at the Aug. 5 meeting; the board instructed staff to pursue the next step with the Mental Health and Recovery Board.
