DOT to install sidewalks on Jersey Avenue; village says eminent domain parcels involved

Mayor announced that the New York State Department of Transportation plans to construct sidewalks on the south side of Windermere (Jersey Avenue) toward Wilson Street near Nassim's grocery. He told the board the DOT will acquire narrow connecting parcels by eminent domain and install sidewalks in multiple sections from Waterstone to Felter and on toward Wilson Street.
The mayor said the village will follow up with DOT about timing but cautioned that state projects can be slow. Residents who had complained about a dirt strip and a bus stop on that corridor were reminded the road is a state highway and the village’s obligation is limited, though DPW has provided interim assistance at callers’ requests.
