Police Chief Ron Godwin told council he met with the district manager for Axon about upgrading body cameras and noted multiple funding sources are available; the vendor is "allowing for delayed payments to allow for immediate ordering and use of the products," according to the minutes. Chief Godwin executed two contracts for six body cameras with software and three TASERs, with an option to purchase an additional three.
EMT Frank Ferrari reported 71 emergency calls and 108 transports to date, including five ALS transports, and said EMS is working to designate unit 710 as a rapid-response unit; he also reported the new billing system is working and that staff have renegotiated contracts and are reviewing past practices to improve returns. Fire Chief Jeremy Haddix said all equipment tested this year passed inspection and that pump testing will occur later in the fall; he also noted fire-prevention activities at Nutter Fort Elementary scheduled for October.
