Committee approved Resolution 403 to participate in the 2023 HAZMAT Targeted Grant Program (procurement managed by Orange County) and separately approved Resolution 404 for the 2024 HAZMAT grant cycle; deputies explained the 2024 award was smaller than 2023 due to statewide allocation differences and could be amended later. Members asked for clarification on grant cycles and were told Orange County will procure and then distribute equipment back to participating counties.
The committee also approved an easement with the towns of Rosendale and Marbletown for construction of a public safety radio tower at Lucas Avenue to strengthen county radio coverage, and adopted a capital amendment (Resolution 406) adding $500,000 to the 2026 capital fund to support emergency medical service equipment purchases. Director Madison said the capital funds will be awarded through grant applications to EMS agencies for necessary purchases.
