Legislature approves one deputy as school resource officer for Wallkill Central School District

The committee approved an amended agreement with Wallkill Central School District to provide one deputy sheriff as a school resource officer this school year. The chair and members discussed and approved changing the original proposal from two deputies to one, and the chair said the associated allocation will be reduced and updated as the resolution proceeds to Ways and Means.
Chair noted the item was moved to keep the contract in place before the school year begins; a motion to adopt the amendment passed and the committee then adopted Resolution 398 as amended. Members asked that the budget allocation be adjusted before the full legislature reviews the agreement.
