Commission approves RFQ to hire temporary accounting and audit support to catch up audits

Fierro outlined multiple vacancies in the finance department and a broad list of documents and schedules auditors require — ledgers, journal entries, bank reconciliations, capital asset schedules and grant documentation — and said the city’s prior year financials had a modified opinion that requires additional reconciliation work. Procurement officer Miss Bolt explained that the RFQ approach is intended to accelerate engagement while staying within state purchasing rules; she noted that purchases over $60,000 typically require a public bid but the RFQ helps identify qualified firms quickly. The commission approved resolution 2026‑079 to publish the RFQ and authorized staff to proceed with outreach, including a state office blast email to certified firms.
