One commissioner said a domestic-plant determination is a statutory definition and proposed pursuing that direction; he also proposed requiring pretreatment for certain commercial hookups. Commissioners repeatedly urged that an engineer review the technical aspects (pump compatibility, particle size prohibitions and lift station sizing) before the commission recommends a final ordinance. "If we're going to make it enforceable, you're going to have to put a diameter," one commissioner said about particle-size limits.
Because of the technical detail required, the commission voted to table the ordinance and return it with engineering input and clearer draft language for adoption at a later date.
