Harnett County officials briefed the Town of Coats Board of Commissioners on Dec. 8 about planned water and sewer projects that would affect the town. Tommy Burns, director of Harnett Regional Water, and Brent Trout, Harnett County manager, described a range of projects, including what they called 'a two-phase sewer upgrade connector project that included Coats as well as a new water treatment plant to be built in Erwin.'
Burns and Trout said the county would follow up with the town and work with town staff to coordinate timing and next steps. According to meeting minutes, county staff 'noted that they would follow-up with communications and coordinate next steps by working with Town staff and return with future updates as needed.' No formal action or vote was taken on the projects during the special meeting; town staff will receive further communications from Harnett County and bring updates to the board as needed.
