South Central Community Action Partnership asks Jerome County for $2,500 toward freezer project

Shalynn Kellogg, CEO of South Central Community Action Partnership, appeared before the commissioners to request a $2,500 county donation to help purchase a freezer for storing donated protein.
Kellogg described the group's work in Jerome County — energy assistance, home weatherization and distribution of food boxes — and said the organization has spent more than $2 million on local services. She said half the money for the freezer has already been raised; the organization will continue seeking grants and donations to cover the remainder.
Commissioners did not vote on the request at the meeting; staff and commissioners will consider the funding request as part of upcoming budget discussions.
