Commissioners approve $610 generator repair and allow airport freezer purchase; bullet‑proof glass demo scheduled

Airport staff reported two immediate needs and a vendor demo during the meeting. Kirsten Hartley told commissioners a recent annual service on the airport generator found a failing diaphragm that is burning propane and requires a rebuild.
"There is a diaphragm that needs rebuilt in order to keep propane from being burned up in the generator," Hartley said. Commissioner Ben Crouch moved to approve expenses of $610 to purchase the fuel-diaphragm rebuild kit for the Jerome Airport; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Art Watkins and passed unanimously.
Separately, Marty Luhr requested permission to buy a freezer to store food for the airport event. "Commissioner Crouch moved to approve the purchase of a freezer for the airport not to exceed the price of $649.99 plus tax," and the board approved the purchase unanimously. Hartley also said Safe Haven Defense will demonstrate bullet-proof glass for commissioners and department heads on July 13 at 11:30 a.m.
Both purchases were funded from existing airport maintenance and event budgets, and airport staff said they will discuss rescheduling Airport Day at the July 7 airport board meeting.
