The board approved a rate change for one captain from $27.89 per hour to $27.21 per hour, effective Sept. 9, 2026, and established two part‑time security officer positions at $14.91 per hour (Grade 3 Step A), effective Aug. 6, 2026. Commissioners also voted to abolish a deputy position under the Sheriff's Association union prevailing rate, effective Aug. 6, 2026. The motions were moved, seconded and carried by roll call.
Speaking after the votes, a commissioner summarized the intent of the package: "And these motions were all made just so that everybody knows you're trying to restructure and maintain the people that you have," (Commissioner, Speaker 2). The sheriff thanked the board for approving the items on the record.
The actions were presented as part of the sheriff's regular personnel updates; the clerk read each line item, the board voted, and the items were recorded in the minutes. No public opposition or additional amendments to the items were recorded during the meeting.
