Granite School Board member Julie Jackson says she won primary, will resign seat

Julie Jackson told the board she won her primary election for the Utah House of Representatives and has no opponent in the general election, and that she will resign her Granite School Board seat effective Dec. 31, 2026.
"I won my primary election for the Utah House of Representatives and have no opponent in the general election," Jackson said, adding that she intends to continue advocating for students in the Legislature. She requested the board open applications and appoint a replacement "as soon as possible" so the new Precinct 1 board member will have time to prepare for service beginning January 2027.
The board president outlined the vacancy process and timeline: the district will notify the county clerk, open applications for two weeks (applications will be accepted through Aug. 19), and conduct interviews starting Aug. 25 with a follow-up interview scheduled Sept. 1 before the next board meeting. Board members noted interviews are conducted in open meeting per state statute and asked staff to post application packets on the website and make physical copies available at the district office.
