The Common Council approved a consent resolution to transfer $650,000 from the city's fund balance to complete the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course clubhouse capital project.
A sponsor told the council the clubhouse is nearly finished but change orders, a redesigned kitchen hood and additional equipment and interior work created extra costs. "Now that we're coming through it again, Clubhouse is basically just about finished...the reason why we're borrowing the $650,000...we're paying for the fund balance," a council member said, explaining the city will use existing reserves rather than bond the amount. Finance staff noted a fund balance of roughly $11,000,000 and said pulling $650,000 is affordable.
Council discussed grants and final contractor bills; officials estimated the total project cost at about $2.885 million and said a few change orders may still arrive. The resolution passed by roll call.
