Amsterdam clerk reports rise in births, dog licenses and outlines records/SharePoint plan

Stacy, the city clerk, reported operational activity for July and said several categories rose compared with last year. "Our birth certificates... once people come in I need a birth certificate to go get my license," Stacy said while summarizing filings; she recorded an increase of 96 birth-certificate prints year-over-year for the month and 77 dog licenses (31 more than 2024). The clerk also reported 27 marriage certificates (18 more than last year), 42 new births, 21 new deaths and 10 new marriages for the period.
Stacy said the office processed 73 FOIL requests in July—11 accident reports, 33 police incident reports, 24 property inquiries and five other requests—and handled 21 notary requests. She told council staff are building a shared SharePoint site so authorized staff and council members can access agendas, signed ordinances and fiscal-year resolution spreadsheets for meeting preparation. She also said the city received a General Code quote to update local laws covering 2024 to present, with a total estimate in the $2,100–$2,600 range, not yet broken down by line item.
