Steuben County approved a transfer of $2,000,000 from the landfill fund balance to the Bath Landfill Cell 6A construction capital project on May 18, 2026. County officials said bids for the Cell 6A construction and associated leachate storage tank were more costly than anticipated, and the unassigned landfill fund balance contained $2,000,000 available to fund the project without increasing the Public Works department’s operating budget.
The Public Works and Finance committees recommended the transfer. The Commissioner of Finance is authorized to make the appropriation and certified copies of the resolution will be forwarded to the Commissioner of Public Works and the Commissioner of Finance for project advancement.
